The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for two full-time academic Obstetricians/Gynecologists in the Special Appointment category: both positions are full-time (1.0 FTE) positions for a period of 3 years (renewable). The successful candidates will join the staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. The position start dates will be in 2026 and can be negotiated with the successful candidates.

The Centre for Learning, Education and Simulation (CELS) welcomes new members and provides a framework and support for innovative educational and simulation initiatives. The Research Institute at SJHH supports our research program and Innovation work is supported by our Chief Innovation Officer. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are a diverse group of 13 OBGYN faculty, including academic generalists, and specialists in perinatal substance use disorder, advanced gynecologic surgery, robotic surgery, colposcopy, dedicated OB and GYN ultrasound including advanced pelvic scanning, and low and medium risk obstetrics. We are growing our thriving mature women’s health program to better serve our perimenopausal and menopausal population in addition to cancer survivors, women with primary ovarian insufficiency and familial cancer.
Both positions are full-time faculty positions in the Special Appointment category, for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The successful candidates will have training and experience in obstetrics and gynecology. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional postgraduate training beyond a residency program, such as fellowship, master’s or other advanced degree, and to candidates with a focus in mature women’s heath, vulva, simulation education, and/or quality improvement.
The successful candidates are expected to have experience and commitment to teaching all levels of learners, including medical students, residents, and clinical fellows, and will provide leadership and training to future physicians. Research is supported collaboratively through the McMaster Department of OBGYN and the Research Institute at SJHH. The candidates will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities.
