To mitigate risks while supporting the continued growth and operational excellence of our national procurement program under the leadership of the Senior Director, Operational Risk and Security, this role provides dedicated sourcing expertise for the Central Region. The Sourcing Specialist ensures compliance with procurement policies, optimizes supplier relationships, and strengthens alignment between regional operations and national procurement standards. If carried out effectively, this position will deliver improved efficiency, risk mitigation, and cost optimization across a ~16M sq. ft. portfolio. The candidate will report to the Vice President, Property Management for the Central Region.
Responsibilities Procurement and Sourcing
- Manage evaluation of RFx responses against pre-defined criteria
- Develop procurement strategies and contract documents for unique requirements in collaboration with internal groups
- Negotiate, prepare and manage RFx and contract documentation in conjunction with the regional property management team to find economies of scale, while connecting with procurement leads within other regions for information and best practices
- Support delivery of strategic sourcing processes (RFx)
- Negotiate with suppliers to leverage buying power, optimize pricing, and manage supplier risk exposure
- Assist the property management teams to manage the competitive processes that support supplier selection
Policy and Governance
- Monitor procurement applications and ensure compliance with Procurement Policy and Delegate Authority Policy
- Collaborate with internal groups to ensure fair and transparent procurement processes
- Identify potential risks and recommend improvements to operational practices and standards
- Follow changing legislation and communicate relevant industry changes to stakeholders
- Adhere to compliance and documentation requirements to ensure purchases meet policy standards
Relationship Building
- Advise on development of complex single-source contracts
- Provide recommendations on pricing strategies, contract terms, and conditions
- Work with internal teams to ensure contract compliance
- Strengthen connection between regional operations and national procurement to ensure alignment
Contract Administration
- Monitor Contract Management database to address expiry dates strategically
- Assist with drafting, negotiating, and finalizing contracts
- Analyze organizational spend and vendor data to prepare summary reports
- Oversee Master Services Agreement (MSA) program for compliance and timely execution
- Ensure RFP module within Construction Manager (Yardi) is utilized for all projects
Leadership and Category Management
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to operational teams on procurement processes aligned with national standards
- Act as regional super-user for vendor management in Ariba (vendor onboarding, training, compliance)
- Perform category spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost optimization
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in procurement/sourcing
- Post-secondary education considered an asset
- Experience with purchasing and tendering policies, procedures, and standards
- Knowledge of risk implications and business processes
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
- Proficiency with procurement tools such as Ariba and Yardi
- Designations such as SCMP or equivalent considered an asset
The base salary for this position is between $71,900 - $119,800 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
