About the Role
This is an in-person role at the Springbank airport within MRU’s Aviation department. This position will support flight day-to-day flight operations for students in the Aviation Diploma and the Bachelor of Aviation Management programs . This role will involve work on the ramp, moving aircraft and preparing them for flight, as well as ensuring a clean hangar and efficient operations both inside and outside of the hangar.
Flight operations occur 7 days a week. The schedule will be made a week or two prior and can change on short notice due to weather, as weather will affect operations. Work of 10-22 hours per week can be expected. It may be possible to work around other commitments, making this an ideal position for a student.
Responsibilities

Aircraft: Cleaning, fueling, de-icing, adding oil and winter fronts, moving aircraft, checking internal inventory

Hangar: Cleaning, organizing, managing inventory, snow removal and lawn cutting, fuel tank checks and fuel ordering

Taxiing: Bringing aircraft back and forth from the maintenance hangar

Scheduling: Provide after hours support to the Scheduling team, adjusting or creating flight bookings
Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma

Taxiing aircraft

Experience in cleaning, organizing and decision making

Experience with moving and fueling aircraft is an asset

Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions

Physical Stamina: Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and be on your feet for extended periods of time. Physical requirements include climbing up and down ladders, reaching up high and bending down to access areas to clean, and towing aircraft outside by yourself.

Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication is required, particularly when moving aircraft with other people in potentially higher risk environments such as around other aircraft, people, or buildings. A loud voice is needed to ensure an ability to get someone’s attention while moving aircraft or moving about on the ramp.

Leadership: Safety is of highest importance. This position will require leading by example in terms of safety and following procedures. Even small oversights can lead to incidents, accidents, or delays. It is important to advise MRU students and employees of incorrect procedures or safety hazards, and providing information to help correct and improve others’ procedures.
Salary: $19.00 per hour
