The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Financial & Strategic Services department as a Property Assessor I.
Reporting to Manager, Assessment Services, this position will be responsible for collecting and managing assessment data. The successful incumbent will value and defend different property inventories, ensuring compliance with municipal and provincial laws. The Assessor I will maintain accurate, transparent records to support communication with public stakeholders. The primary focus is on residential inventories, with some exposure to non-residential commercial properties.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Appraisal/Assessment or Urban Land Economics or degree in related field.
- A minimum of 6 months of assessment/appraisal experience is required, preferably working with the three approaches to value.
- Working towards an accredited designation from the Alberta Assessors’ Association.
- Proficient user of the Microsoft Office Suite, CAMAlot, Marshall & Swift, and Apex Sketch Software.
- Able to demonstrate specialized knowledge of related assessment and municipal legislation, construction methods and techniques, real estate market, economic and related trends and statistical techniques.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
- We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
- Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation
- The salary ranges from $74,544 - $91,747 per year including a comprehensive benefits package and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.
- Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
