About the role
We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to provide various financial services to the finance team and operating departments of the Hartmann and will be helping in the completeness and accuracy of all internal and external financial reporting. Work together with the Mangers in Finance to prepare SOPs and detailed work instructions on finance policies.
Key Activities Controlling & Reporting
- Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial transactions processing and reporting systems
- Maintenance of appropriate financial controls
- Help the Managers in accomplishing the financial information and analysis with particular emphasis on costs.
- Help in preparation and analysis of annual budgets, forecasts and other financial presentations as required
- Work with the Managers to complete month end reporting deliverables
- Maintain standard cost and perform cost rolls as directed
- Prepare KPI reporting for review
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Controlling
- Perform in depth analysis of sales, production and variances
Month End and Accounting
- Month-end activities including account reconciliation and ad hoc financial and operating analyses
- Assist with ad-hoc requests for information from various parties
- Enter and match invoices in Medius – AP
- Perform month end balance sheet reconciliation
- Backup for others as needed
- Work together with the Managers to find ways to automate reports
- Process journal entries as required
Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the implementation of adequate internal controls throughout the organization
- Assist with quarterly and annual budgeting process
- Quick learner and willing to take additional responsibilities
- Help in year end audit and other related finance audits
Minimum Qualifications (Education)
- Post-secondary education with a concentration in Finance, Commerce, Business
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation/under way, or equivalent
- Previous Experience Required
- 5-10 years of related work experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry
- Strong ERP systems understanding
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and some familiarity with US and International GAAP

- Demonstrated strength in accounting and analytical skills, including computer-based analysis
- Ability to create new, comprehensive and possibly unique reports from existing data to respond to changing needs
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
