Summer Student - Communications
About the role
The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) is a leading industry organization dedicated to the overall planning, development, marketing, and management of the commercial port facilities within the Port of Prince Rupert.
PRPA is seeking a motivated, eager-to-learn student to join the communications team and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and enhance career prospects.
Summer student employment is for four months, commencing May 4, 2026, and ending August 28, 2026, unless otherwise specified.
Position Accountabilities

Support ongoing communication initiatives in:

Copywriting and editing

Digital content development

Traditional and social media monitoring

Website content management

Archiving and maintenance of digital assets

Marketing collateral development

Communications planning
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in a program at a post-secondary institution studying communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail are required.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and/or creative development software is an asset.
- Experience with photography, videography, and related editing software is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours/day, with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).
- Work will primarily be in an office environment.
The hourly rate for PRPA’s Summer Student position is $29.00.
