Position: Cloud Engineer, IT Infrastructure (Level 17)

Compensation Details**:**
- Software Engineer 17: Salaries typically range from $83,037 to $110,717 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Halifax, or Vancouver**.**

Team Overview:
- The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
- EDC as a corporation is very technology-driven with a lot of solutions provided by Microsoft and some other core OEMs. EDC has a requirement for the Cloud Engineer to work with both the Accenture (EDC’s Managed Service Partner) team, as well as internal EDC teams, to support both the run, grow and transformative activities outlined in our current roadmap. We architect, design, build, test and deploy agile and cost-effective Workplace and Service Management solutions leveraging Cloud and as-a-Service based approaches. We implement scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the needs of today’s corporate and digital applications using cloud infrastructure technologies and software defined infrastructure. We develop and deliver legacy infrastructure transformation (including operating model) and migration to drive next-generation business outcomes.
- The Cloud Engineer reports to the Chapter Lead, Infrastructure Architecture & Engineer.
What you will be doing:
- Write and maintain Terraform and Ansible templates to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning as part of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development.
- Support version-controlled code deployment via Git or Azure DevOps Repos.
- Provide cloud environment support by assisting in provisioning, configuring, and maintaining resources in Azure (e.g., virtual networks, storage accounts, compute resources).
- Help monitor the health and performance of cloud services.
- Automate manual tasks and develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Implement automation in CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Document infrastructure components, automation workflows, and environment setup guides.
- Provide security & compliance support by following secure coding practices for scripts and automation.
- Work with senior engineers to ensure infrastructure deployments are compliant with organizational standards (e.g., tagging, RBAC, encryption, security frameworks).
- Participate in code reviews, stand-ups, and knowledge-sharing sessions to build collaboration and learning.
- Work closely with senior engineers, product owners, and operations teams to grow technical skills.
- Learn from and escalate complex issues to senior team members.
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a subject matter expert in the following:
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP);
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible, Terraform, ARM, or Bicep;
- Some experience or coursework in scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash);
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins);
- Lab work, GitHub repos, or certifications (e.g., AZ-900, Terraform Associate).
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create and maintain technical processes and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including technical problem solving.
- Exhibit leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
What will make you stand out:
- ITIL certifications.
- Bilingual in both official languages of Canada (English and French).
