Program Overview
The JVS Integrated Employment Services (IES), funded by MLITSD and managed by WCG, provides employment services to unemployed individuals of all ages, financial backgrounds and skills to help them gain and retain employment within their field or a related field. To achieve its goals, the program provides a range of services including one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services and job retention supports. In addition, IES collaborates with other programs to ensure efficient and smooth operations through streamlining client referrals to appropriate services.

Within newcomer services, the ISTEM program is designed to facilitate newcomer integration into the Canadian workplace and society at the initial stages of their job search in Canada. It includes information, orientation and counselling as well as sector-specific language/workplace communication training for internationally educated professionals.

Our Workforce Specialist team is dedicated to developing relationships with employers to secure job opportunities.

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Assess client strengths, needs and job placement readiness. Negotiate employment opportunities that meet both client and employer needs

  • Carry out job development using JVS’ consultative sales model including prospecting (cold calling), networking, employer needs analysis, features/benefits and other job development and sales techniques.

  • Build productive ongoing relationships with potential employers for agency programs/clients, contacting employers using random and targeted lead generation approaches for current client job placement needs, and advocating on behalf of the client

  • Follow up with employers and clients to support ongoing retention in employment or work assignment; monitor placements; assess work environment and identify strategies to maintain client success

  • Organize and facilitate on/off-site and virtual events, such as employer sessions, hiring events, job fairs, info sessions, and networking panels

  • Maintain detailed employer and client records; enter all required information into database system; ongoing updates and reporting of outcomes to project team

  • Conduct on-site ‘Monitoring Visits’ to closely monitor co-op and job placements, providing assistance with work-related issues and job performance

  • Continually monitor labour-market trends, conduct labour market related workshops as well as employer and community outreach to increase visibility and jobseeker participation in the JVS programs

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • College diploma in Sales, Marketing, or Human Resources; or evaluated as the Canadian equivalency

  • Comfortable with lead generation, cold calling, presentations, and research

  • At least 1 year of experience in sales, outreach, staffing, and/or telemarketing

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and write reports

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop relationships with a wide range of individuals, including community professionals, clients, colleagues, staff, volunteers, and employers

  • Effective organization and time management skills

  • A Police Vulnerable Sector is required for this position

  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset, as local travel is required

  • Ability to speak another language is an asset

Our ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience placing internationally trained professionals

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of the labour market

  • Experience and deep understanding of issues faced by newcomer women, including refugees and equity seeking groups

  • Sensitivity to diversity; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively deal with many personality types

  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (e.g. SalesForce)

  • Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure

  • Knowledge of Ukrainian language – definite asset
