ANC is currently recruiting for the role of Millwright – Roll Rebuild Specialist. This position is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, machining, balancing, grinding, and reassembly of a wide variety of paper machine rolls at ANC. Your work will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mill production. ANC will provide training to the successful candidate. The successful incumbent for this role will have a Journeyman Millwright ticket and industrial Millwright experience. A Journeyman Machinist ticket may be considered for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this role allows an individual to work both independently and within a collective team. This position works a 40-hour workweek from Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, with on-call shifts and overtime as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Safely disassemble, inspect, and rebuild paper machine rolls, including press rolls, suction rolls, calendar rolls, and guide rolls.

Perform precision machining, including turning, milling, grinding, welding, and surface finishing.
-
Accurately measure, align, and balance rolls to OEM and mill specifications.
-
Install bearings, seals, sleeves, bushings, and other roll components.
-
Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and rebuilds for quality assurance and compliance.
-
Lead or assist a small crew during planned shutdowns for roll rebuilds or replacements.
-
Frequently operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Perform preventative maintenance on shop machinery and maintain tools in good condition.
-
Support on-machine roll change-outs and alignments when required.
-
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and rigging protocols.

Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Journeyman Millwright ticket is preferred. Journeyman Machinist may be considered for the right candidate. Dual ticket is an asset.

Grade 12 diploma is required.

3+ years of experience in a similar role in an industrial setting is required. Pulp and paper experience is considered a strong asset.

Valid Driver’s License is required.

Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, grinders, and precision measurement tools.

Strong understanding of rotating equipment, bearings, and alignment practices.
-
Crane and rigging experience required; forklift certification an asset.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and OEM manuals.

Safety-focused mindset and strong knowledge of safe work practices.

Have a sense of responsibility, accountability and ownership of your work. Be a self-starter and self-motivated to complete tasks and meet deadlines.

Able to successfully work both independently with minimal supervision, and as a part of a team.

Demonstrate effective communication with a variety of personalities and roles.

Basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Experience using a computer-based maintenance system and an electronic task logging system is an asset.
