Agricorp is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join the Database Administration team in the Network & Infrastructure Services department in the Information Technology Services division. The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning and security of the database environments within Agricorp. Databases include, Oracle, & SQL Server.

THE ROLE 

In this role, you will:  

  • Proactively monitor databases to ensure continuous availability and operation
  • Provide database design to address data storage, access, security, performance and backup/recovery needs for Agricorp systems
  • Design, implement, and maintain extract, load, transform (ELT) processes, participate in data warehouse development, support and address related issues
  • Design, implement and monitor regular backup and recovery strategy and procedures
  • Perform database and SQL query performance analysis and implement performance improvements
  • Plan, implement and maintain a high availability solution, providing business continuity for the Oracle and Microsoft SQL environments
  • Participate in development code review and release processes, address database access requests, providing database refreshes and support
  • Plan and perform database upgrades and assess impacts to systems
  • Assess new functionality and new versions offered by vendors to recommend upgrades
  • Maintain currency on relevant technologies, database usage techniques, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot database related errors and provide after hours emergency support

 

 Job status: Permanent (posting for an existing vacancy) Salary: $73,912 - $86,955

Work status: Full time in office 

Location: Guelph, Ontario 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of computer science, or a 3 year college diploma in the area of computer science or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Oracle and MS SQL database administration. Data warehouse experience is a plus.

  • Preferred DBA certification, either Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) DBA or Microsoft (MC DBA)
