The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. These processes will address capacity, quality, safety, ergonomic, and environmental requirements of the business. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new processes.
  • Provide required support to meet team objectives.
  • Develop and update routings.
  • Provide project support and/or leadership on the introduction of new products.
  • Determine labor standards and maintain production capacity model.
  • Contributes greatly to the plant wide cost reduction teams.
  • Develops and maintains process descriptions and work instruction to ensure ISO certification is maintained.
  • Materials testing/planning.
  • Technical reports.
  • Become an active participant and contributor to the continuous improvements process at Knoll.
  • Follow all Knoll safety expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Commitment to quality.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Experience requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering (P. Eng. designation is desirable)
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 0-4 years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with or Knowledge of furniture / woodworking and/or finishing is considered an asset
  • Technical Experience: Experience in continuous improvement activities will be required. This includes using tools such as kaizens, mistake proofing, establishing standard work practices, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, TPM, etc.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, environmental compliance, industrial hazard and communication. Well versed in OSHA regulations and ISO 14000 auditing and implementation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001/9001 required.
  • Strong skills in areas like: Leadership, Lean, Management, Strategic, Quantitative & Qualitative Assessment, Communication (written & verbal), Presentation, Analytical
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work off shifts, flexible hours, including weekends
  • Black Belt or Lean Belt Certification preferred.
  • Must be flexible to travel as needed
