About the role
Description: Thompson Construction Group has current openings for experienced Rigid Frame Haul Truck Drivers supporting operations in the Fort McMurray area. This role involves the safe and efficient hauling of material within active construction and mining worksites while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and equipment care.
Responsibilities:
- Safely haul and dump material to designated locations within the worksite
- Operate haul trucks in a smooth, controlled, and efficient manner
- Perform pre-operational and routine equipment inspections, including tires, fluids, lights, and brakes
- Report equipment defects or maintenance concerns promptly
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, and other operators using two-way radio
- Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment, personnel, and site conditions
- Follow all site-specific rules, project requirements, and company policies
- Participate in Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) as required
- Support site operations as needed and perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating rigid frame haul trucks (CAT 777, 785, 789 or 793) on heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building, or mining sites
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and reside in remote camps on a rotational schedule
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO) certification required
- Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive, and First Aid considered assets
- Physically capable of performing assigned duties
- Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
