Of Counsel – Employment Lawyer
About the role
Of Counsel – Employment Lawyer (Contract Position)
This Of Counsel position is designed for a lawyer with deep expertise in Canadian employment law who wants to continue practicing without the pressure of running a full-time firm. You will receive referrals from Ackah Law and manage those matters independently, ensuring clients receive timely and professional legal guidance.
The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of experience advising employers and/or employees and can confidently navigate workplace disputes, contract drafting, policy development, and risk mitigation.
As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Wills & Estates Lawyer (Of Counsel) — a seasoned legal professional who can support clients on an as-needed basis with wills, estate planning, probate guidance, and related matters. This contract role is ideal for someone winding down their own practice, maintaining a lean solo practice, or seeking flexible, remote work while still providing meaningful legal services.
Compensation:
$50,000 - $80,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on employment contracts, workplace policies, terminations, and severance packages.
- Assist with employment law standards, compliance, and risk management strategies.
- Offer legal support on workplace disputes, investigations, or performance-related issues.
- Draft employment agreements, policies, and advisory documents for clients.
- Maintain communication with the firm regarding referral updates and client outcomes.
- Ensure high-quality, timely, and professional service to all referred clients.
- Work collaboratively with our team to support corporate and business clients as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Canadian lawyer in good standing with 5–10 years of employment law experience.
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal employment standards.
- Experience drafting employment contracts and advising on workplace policies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage matters independently with high levels of professionalism.
- Comfortable working remotely and operating under an Of Counsel structure.
Compensation:
This role operates under a referral-based Of Counsel compensation model, with competitive fee-sharing for all matters referred through Ackah Law. Income is based on the volume and type of work completed.
