Position Summary
As a Senior Security Specialist, you will lead the organization's cybersecurity efforts and be critical in designing, implementing, and managing security measures to protect against cyber threats. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you'll develop and execute security strategies, conduct assessments, and lead incident response activities. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a robust security posture and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Provide leadership and guidance on security initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Lead the design, configuration, and management of security technologies and solutions, including firewalls, SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security tools.
Ensure the effective deployment and operation of security controls to protect systems and data.
Conduct regular security assessments, including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, to identify and mitigate security risks.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, conducting audits and implementing necessary controls.
Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to contain, investigate, and remediate security incidents.
Develop and deliver security awareness programs to educate employees on cybersecurity threats and best practices.
Maintain detailed documentation for security configurations, processes, and procedures.
Prepare reports on security assessments, incidents, and activities for executive management and regulatory compliance.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work, including on-call support.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5+ years of related work experience in cybersecurity roles.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
Proficient with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection solutions, and vulnerability management systems
Industry certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, CGRL, or equivalent are advantageous.
