JOB SUMMARY
Joining the newest attraction at Grouse Mountain, attendants are responsible for the daily operations of the Grouse Gravity Coaster including briefing guests on how to safely ride the new experience while enjoying this thrilling new attraction. Our attendants are outgoing and knowledgeable, providing a memorable visit for all. There are part-time, full-time, morning and evening shifts available – this position runs from May to October.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Controlling the flow of guest riders in a safe professional manner while engaging with guests and providing an informative experience about Grouse Mountain and its surroundings
- General safe operations of the Grouse Gravity Coaster
- Completing daily opening and closing inspections of the department areas and ongoing inspections of all relevant safety gear, track and equipment; reporting any safety hazards and malfunctions to the Supervisor on duty
- Instructing guest on proper use of coaster carts and policies to ensure a safe ride
- Monitoring activities for risk management, as well as assessing and intervening when situations require (according to company policies)
- Ensuring guests enjoy safe, positive and enriching experiences that exceed the guests’ expectations
- Demonstrating, teaching, and assisting guests in the use of safety equipment
- Ensuring the correct fit, adjustments, and use of equipment before and during activity participation, and ensuring safety rules are followed, without compromise
- Promoting Mountain Adventures activities and all other Grouse Mountain products, services, and promotions to keep our guests informed
- Completing daily written reports and checklists
- Completing general housekeeping duties around the Coaster and staff areas daily, maintaining a clean work environment
- Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is under the supervision of a supervisory team and does not require any supervisor responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
- Successful completion of secondary school preferred
- Can communicate effectively with teammates, leaders, and both adults and children guests in group and individual settings
- A reliable self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Previous experience working with groups, public speaking or tour guiding considered an asset
- First-aid qualifications considered an asset
- Must be able to complete all paperwork according to company policy, including proper delivery of release of liability waiver
- Must be able to work at heights and understand the requirements of mandatory safety at heights
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job including restrictions for each activity
- Previous experience in customer service and/or adventure tourism considered an asset
- Must be able to handle the physical requirements of an outdoor position that operates in all types of weather
- Must complete area-specific training and pass a written test
- Must have flexible availability and be available evenings, weekends and holidays, including being available to work at least 2-3 days per week during July and August
- Tome off is limited and is only available on a first come first serve basis
WORKING CONDITIONS
Grouse Gravity Coaster Attendants perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$18.86 to $22.06/hour
