Position Overview:
ERIS has an immediate opportunity for a Data Analyst. The Data Analyst assists in the collection, loading, and updating of ERIS’ databases. This is a full-time hybrid position at our Toronto office, working 35 hours per week.
Specific Responsibilities and Daily Tasks (not limited to):
- Researching, collecting, and downloading environmental risk data (e.g., data from regulatory and remediation programs)
- Writing SQL queries to verify the completeness and integrity of data
- Writing SQL load scripts to extract, transform, load (ETL) data from various formats into Oracle
- Executing other data activities such as data compilation, data conversion, data cleaning, string manipulation, determining normal form for tables
- Address cleaning, geocoding, and coordinating conversion using custom software
- Assisting with other environmental risk data-related tasks as required
Qualification and Skill Requirements:
- Recent completion of a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Geomatics/GIS, Environmental Science/Engineering or a related field
- Experience compiling and manipulating data in different formats, e.g., .csv, .txt, .xlsx, .xml
- Understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Working knowledge of or interest in learning geography and spatial concepts would be considered assets
- Experience automating tasks would be considered an asset
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
- Good command of the English language with precise, concise, and efficient communication
- Quick and enthusiastic learner
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work under pressure
