##About the job

In this role, you will:

  • work as the crew leader for a variety of fisheries assessment projects
  • operate large and small vessels; sample fish
  • organize and maintain necessary equipment and supplies
  • conduct sport fish creel surveys
  • carry out commercial catch sampling
  • assist with fish stocking and tissue aging and operate and maintain equipment

##What you bring to the team

###Mandatory requirements

  • You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
  • You have the ability to complete training in Domestic Vessel Safety courses.

###Specialized knowledge:

  • knowledge of biology as it relates to aquatic ecosystems, including the ability to identify fish species, and invertebrates, and understand fisheries biology and seasonal behaviour
  • knowledge in the field of fisheries assessment techniques including sampling and survey techniques and the use and maintenance of equipment
  • knowledge of large and small boat operation, navigation, safety and emergency procedures

###Teamwork & computer skills:

  • proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • computer skills to perform word processing, email, and data management in databases and spreadsheets
