We design, manufacture and support advanced equipment sensing and analysis products, including on-line oil debris sensors, torque measurement sensors, turbine blade health sensors, and at-line oil analysis systems.
Gastops is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Operations team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The purpose of this role is to perform a wide variety of laboratory tests on oil and other fluids used in aircraft, industrial equipment, and other large machinery, and generate reports which provide valuable insight into the health and condition of these assets.
What You’ll Do The position of Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Lab Supervisor and be located at our office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia at 109 Williams Ave, Unit #10 in the Burnside Industrial Park. This facility provides component Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) services and condition monitoring solutions to commercial and military aircraft and other high-value assets in Canada and across the world. The facility and its operations are ISO 9001:2015 and Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) certified.
As a member of the Service Centre team, the Laboratory Technician will have a primary focus on analyzing fluid samples, recording data, and reporting results to customers. Specific duties will include:
- Receive, process, and analyze samples of oil and other fluids in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy.
- Operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Collect and interpret data.
- Enter and maintain data in company software and/or ERP systems.
- Report analysis results using both automated and manual reporting tools.
- Communicate with customers and deliver reports in a professional manner, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Work efficiently to maintain a high level of On Time Delivery of results to customers.
- Perform and/or facilitate maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Safely handle and store chemicals, compressed gas cylinders, and other laboratory materials in accordance with SDS sheets and other requirements.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Generate and maintain accurate records and traceability for all lab samples.
- Perform quality control (QA) checks as required to maintain accuracy of results.
- Ensure all relevant lab cleanliness standards are upheld.
- Participate in safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives as required.
- Provide technical support and/or training to customers as required.

- Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with established processes.
- Eligible to obtain a Security Clearance (NATO Level Clearance and Controlled Goods)
