Position Description:

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Supervisor to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Power Bus Way Team in Mississauga, ON. The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of buyers and purchasing agents, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that procurement activities support production or business operations without interruption. This role balances cost control, quality standards, and timely delivery while enforcing company policies and procurement best practices.

What Will You Do?

  • Supervise and support purchasing staff, assign workloads, and monitor performance.
  • Oversee the sourcing and purchasing of materials, equipment, and services required for operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors; evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements without compromising quality.
  • Work closely with inventory and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Ensure procurement activities follow company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Handle supplier issues such as delays, quality problems, or discrepancies in orders.
  • Track purchasing metrics, prepare reports, and analyze data to support decision-making.
  • Lead Production Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, & Materials Management for both in-house manufacturing as well as offshore CM model.
  • Standardize processes in Demand Planning/Management, Procurement/Sourcing, Materials/Inventory Management and Distribution & Logistics.
  • Responsible for maintaining scorecards of relevant suppliers (local and global) in the key categories such as quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Manage down E&O exposure through sku management recommendations and ABC analysis.
  • Review and monitor purchase price variances and implement actions to achieve established cost standards.
  • Lead Material/Inventory Management best practices.
  • Minimize Logistics expenses while maximizing customer fill rates.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree with Supply Chain/Sourcing focus, APICS Certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations and/or Continuous Improvement. Dealing with multi-national operations a bonus.
  • Past supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to be a problem solver, knowledge of Supply Chain best practices, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and/or category management strategies and use of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Understand operational and financial metrics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Requires strong organizational capabilities and time management, close attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and proven ability to efficiently research and summarize information in an effective manner and make recommendations based upon analysis.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a variety of cross functional teams.

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000/annually
