About the role

We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. The Senior Structural Engineer has full authority and responsibility for projects assigned to them including supervising, directing, and verifying all technical work of the project team including sign off on all work. They provide professional and technical guidance to Junior and Intermediate Engineers and Drafting Technologists at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Confirm documents and drawings meet scope, applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company formats
  • Verify calculations, dimensions, and technical elements are complete and accurate
  • Perform, analyze, and interpret manual calculations and FEA models
  • Ensure FEA models and manual calculations conform to applicable codes and standards
  • Review and sign off on calculations and FEA models created by Junior Engineers and Drafting Technologists at all levels
  • Prepare and sign off on engineering procedures and reports detailing calculations and model interpretations
  • Sign off on confirmed/verified drawings
  • Formulate and document repair recommendations
  • Develop and prepare design sketches in the field
  • Witness and document on‐site testing
  • Work with Project Management team to define and control scope, schedule, and budget on projects
  • Manage technical questions, comments, and issues arising from projects
  • Provide final approval on project documentation
  • Provide mentorship for Junior and Intermediate Engineers

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering, or other relevant degree
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGS as a Professional Engineer with permission to consult

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar consulting role

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license
  • Proficiency in use of computers with knowledge of FEA software and Microsoft Office software
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of project management concepts
