Okanagan Skaha School District is seeking outstanding educational leaders for anticipated vacancies for the position of Principal/Vice Principal, at Elementary and/or /Secondary Schools.
Skills In addition to possessing, or being eligible for, membership in the B.C. College of Teachers and possessing an appropriate master's degree, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and qualities:
- Broad knowledge of issues and trends in BC public education;
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, truth and reconciliation.
- Strong, value-based practice supporting individual student success;
- Excellent initiative, organizational, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills;
- A refined ability to work with all partner groups on a collaborative and motivating basis;
- Commitment to fostering excellence in instructional, co-curricular, and extra- curricular
programs in the school;
- The ability to promote good labour relations and sound personnel management in a dynamic educational and union environment;
- A high level of energy and an ability to sustain a heavy and varied workload;
- Commitment to becoming an integral participant in school and district initiatives;
- Demonstrated, exemplary teaching experience;
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates with Indigenous ancestry.
The School District SD No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha), representing the communities of Penticton, Summerland, Kaleden, and Naramata, serves the educational needs of approximately 5,800 students. The district is currently working through a long- range facilities process and are in our final year of being reorganized as an elementary/secondary school district.
We are looking for candidates who are committed to continuous growth and learning as described by the British Columbia Principals and Vice-Principals Leadership Standards. The annual pay range for vice principals is $130,540 – $145,318. The annual pay range for principals is $148,816 - $165,664. SD67 Okanagan Skaha engages in preferential hiring of persons of Indigenous ancestry in accordance with Section 42 (Special Programs) of British Columbia's Human Rights Code.
