About the role
Reports to: The Fisheries Manager in the Economic Development Department
Location: Kuujjuaq or Montréal

Responsibilities :
-
Leads and manages the proposal of projects, incorporating input from EDD and local partners of Makivvik;
-
Locates and Applies for Governmental funding for Marine Inshore development and research that would be pertinent to EDD and local Nunavik groups;
-
Writes necessary proposals related to the development of In-shore Marine Development Opportunities, research, and other related projects;
-
Connects and coordinates work on marine inshore fisheries development, including contractors and researchers;
-
Responsible for all matters related to working with local groups;
-
Prioritizes work objectives document, an annual action plan, or similar document;
-
Provides coaching support to local economic startup activities including governance, finance, and operational advice;
-
Communicates and Coordinates requirements with Regulatory bodies the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board (NMRWB) and the Nunavik Marine Region Impact Review Board and planning commission as well as others required;
-
Provide weekly or regular reports to department directors;
-
Be available to travel, as requested;
-
Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
-
University or College diploma in Marine Biology, Ecology, or related fields;
-
Effective communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
-
Effective computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
-
Ability to write field research proposals and protocols;
-
Traditional and cultural Inuit knowledge, is required;
-
Capable of working independently;
-
Prioritizes and communicates priorities with colleagues & stakeholders;
-
Results-driven;
-
Detail-oriented;
-
Capable of devising an annual action plan;
-
Communication Skills;
-
Security clearance is required.
Training will be available for Beneficiaries in the advancement for their career.
