Position Title: Business Analyst II
Number of Positions: 2 Location: Hybrid – 4 days a week | Toronto, ON, M5K 1A2 Duration: 3 Months Department & Project Overview Join a dynamic 20-person technology delivery team within a leading financial institution. This position supports a critical platform modernization project focused on our Enterprise Real Estate technology platform. This role offers a comprehensive 2-week training period and provides an exceptional opportunity to work within a prominent enterprise environment, gain exposure to complex cross-functional workstreams, and contribute directly to high-impact platform transformations.
Role Description
In this role, you will support and evolve the Enterprise Real Estate technology platform by applying strong, hands-on experience working within workflow-driven systems. You will act as a key bridge between Enterprise Real Estate stakeholders and technology delivery teams, translating business needs into well-defined functional requirements and ensuring solutions align with platform capabilities and best practices. This role is best suited to a seasoned, hands-on Business Analyst with experience working directly within enterprise applications and workflow engines. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of how systems are designed to operate, with the ability to work through applications to understand process flows, system behavior, and module functionality, and translate those into clear, structured documentation. A key focus of the role is to support the modernization of the platform by leveraging out-of-the-box (OOTB) capabilities and standardizing workflows. The candidate should be comfortable analyzing how processes should function within the system, identifying opportunities to simplify and align to platform capabilities, and producing documentation that reflects intended system design and behavior. The role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to move between business and system perspectives. The candidate must be comfortable working in a complex, cross-functional enterprise environment, collaborating with both business stakeholders and technology teams (averaging approximately 7.5 hours per week spent in alignment meetings interacting with both internal and external partners). Experience with TRIRIGA is considered a significant asset; however, candidates with strong experience in similar workflow-based platforms (such as Pega or other BPM tools) will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Structured Analysis: Lead a structured, disciplined business analysis approach to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate, and manage business requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements Elicitation: Apply a wide range of requirements elicitation techniques (e.g., workshops, interviews, process walkthroughs, document analysis) to probe, challenge, clarify, and validate requirements with business and technology stakeholders. Process Design: Identify, document, and validate current state business processes, and collaborate with business and technology partners to design and document future state processes and solutions leveraging platform best practices (specifically TRIRIGA). Technical Liaison: Act as a key liaison between stakeholders and technology delivery teams, ensuring clear understanding and translation of business needs into functional and system requirements, as well as testing strategies and artifacts. Solution Configuration: Collaborate closely with technology partners and stakeholders to provide recommendations that support effective solution design, configuration, and delivery within the platform framework. Risk & Issue Management: Ensure project issues, risks, and concerns related to requirements are proactively identified, clearly articulated, tracked, and resolved (including dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and scope considerations). Downstream Alignment: Proactively identify and manage requirements-related risks and impacts, anticipating downstream effects on delivery, operations, and business readiness. Quality Assurance Support: Contribute to quality assurance activities, including supporting the development and review of test scenarios and test scripts, participating in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), and communicating defects or issues to support execution. Autonomous Execution: Work independently with minimal supervision, while effectively managing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations in a complex enterprise environment.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Education & Experience Baseline Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma is preferred (not a strict mandatory requirement). Overall Experience: 2–4 years of baseline Business Analyst experience, with at least 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst within enterprise applications. Performance Metrics: Success in this role will be measured via a data-driven, metrics-based performance evaluation system.
Must-Have Hard Skills
Core BA / BSA Experience: Strong experience working within enterprise software setups, specifically working directly with workflow-based applications or case management platforms. Agile Delivery Proficiency: Practical experience operating within Agile or hybrid delivery models. Core Tool Stack: Active, hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence for asset tracking and documentation.
Core Soft Skills
Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities to interface effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to capturing system behaviors, application configurations, and process flows. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Ability to operate effectively within large, matrixed corporate environments.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Direct hands-on experience working within the TRIRIGA enterprise platform. Experience with Pega or similar business process management (BPM) platforms. Solid understanding of workflow-based systems, including process flows, approvals, states, lifecycle management, and out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality vs. customization trade-offs. Demonstrated ability to work directly within applications to analyze end-to-end process flows, interpret system behavior, and translate capabilities into system-level functional descriptions.
