At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

We are currently looking for a Carbody Structure Designer to join our team in St-Bruno-de-Montarville.

If you are passionate about mechanical design, enjoy collaborative work, and want to make a real impact, you might be the person we’re looking for.

Your Future Role As a Designer, you will play a key role in the development of the carbody structure for a major project. You will ensure design consistency, alignment with best practices and architectural guidelines, and be a key contributor to delivering high-quality designs within the given time limits. You will collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, industrialization, and the project management team to bring innovative rail vehicles to life.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Design products aligned with project, platform, and industrialization requirements
  • Share progress on detailed structural designs and space allocations
  • Develop general structural concepts during the project execution

Your Missions

  • Ensure that mechanical domain activities comply with QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) commitments
  • Guarantee product performance, manufacturability, maintainability, and testability
  • Support Purchasing, Industrialization, and Production teams during ramp-up
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the carbody design domain

Profile Sought At ALSTOM, passion and attitude matter just as much as experience. Here are the skills and qualities that will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or technical diploma with relevant experience
  • Proficiency in mechanical design using Catia V5 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of welded structures and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

What You’ll Enjoy in This Role and at ALSTOM

  • Contributing to innovative projects
  • Tackling challenges without monotonous routines
  • Benefiting from long-term stability in the rail industry
  • Developing new skills through proven learning programs
  • Shaping your career with opportunities across functions and countries
  • Receiving a fair and dynamic rewards package that recognizes your performance and potential, along with comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, health, retirement)

Bilingualism Proficiency in French and English is required. Knowledge of a third language is considered an asset when working with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues, and customers. In Quebec, French remains the primary working language of our company.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
