The** Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese ** (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Learning Resource teacher provides leadership and coordination within the school’s Learning Resource Department, ensuring that students with identified learning needs, as well as those requiring broader academic support, are fully included in the Christ-centred community of St. Thomas Aquinas. Guided by Catholic values of dignity, compassion, and service, the coordinator collaborates with teachers, parents, and students to support personalized learning, oversees support staff, and facilitates smooth transitions for students from elementary to high school and into post-secondary pathways.

Key Duties

  • Student Support

  • Oversee support for students with IEPs and other learning needs.

  • Assist students with broader academic or social-emotional challenges.

  • Organize exam and assessment accommodations.

Teacher & Staff Collaboration

  • Support teachers with strategies for inclusive instruction.

  • Provide resources and professional learning on accommodations/differentiation.

  • Supervise Education Assistants (EAs).

  • Work with counsellors and administration on holistic student support.

Parent & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding student learning support.

  • Build faith-informed partnerships with parents.

  • Liaise with external professionals (e.g., psychologists, speech-language pathologists).

Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain IEPs, learning profiles, and student records.

  • Ensure compliance with CISVA and Ministry regulations.

  • Track and report student support data for planning.

Faith & Community Leadership

  • Model Catholic values of inclusion, dignity, and service.
  • Promote a culture of belonging where every student is recognized as a child of God.
  • Contribute to the mission of forming faith-filled, responsible, and engaged learners.
