Position: Tool Shop Sales Engineer FLSA: Exempt
Supervisor: Director of Sales

What You Will Do:
The Tool Shop Sales Engineer is based in Windsor, Ontario and works with tool shops and tier ones to promote a variety of plant services with a primary emphasis on emerging technologies and new end markets (including soft trim and Laser engraving). They are responsible to solicit new business opportunities, maintain existing client base (retention), oversee the initial RFQ, handling of part mark-ups, texture line-ups, customer coordination/consultation, and forecasting the EAD (estimated arrival dates) for upcoming jobs.
Essential duties include (but not limited to):
- Consistently pursues new business prospects and develops strong consultative relationships with existing customers. Includes local tool shops and tier ones.
- Respond to customer RFQ’s timely, communicating as appropriate
- Actively manage all quote opportunities in SAP, working closely with the Estimation Department
- Sell the combined offerings of Standex Engraving to new end markets and emerging technologies to existing end markets.
- Provide customers with technical support and solutions (tooling, molded parts, etc.)
- Manage the details of upcoming jobs to ensure that tools are ready to move through the texturing process when they arrive at the plant
- Accurate and timely dissemination of information
- Exhibits professionalism and promotes company values (integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation)
- Other activities as required in support of department, as needed
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must have a “hunter’s mentality” to bring existing technologies to new end markets and to sell emerging technologies into existing end markets.
- Detail orientation – strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional presence and demeanor
- Knowledge of automotive industry (tool/mold shops, texturing preferred)
- Self-starter, continually researching latest industry trends and new/emerging markets
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills; a succinct verbal and written communication style. Good listener.
- Ability to manage several priorities with tool shops, Tier 1 suppliers, molders, etc.
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Effective and positive collaboration with peer departments/team members (production, finance, design, marketing, etc.)
- Proficient in MS Office Suite products, internet navigation
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with major in engineering, business, sales/marketing or related field; may consider appropriate experience in lieu of
- 3+ years' experience in a similar technical and or sales role, industry experience preferred
