The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate accounting operations. Responsible for processing and monitoring Cash Application functions. Follows and adheres to accounting policies and procedures and offers suggestions (when needed) for improved efficiencies and controls where appropriate and implements these changes.

Essential Job Tasks and Activities

Typical tasks and activities for this job include, but are not limited to the items listed below. Additional duties may be assigned as needed by management.

Branch/ Customer/Management Support

Perform the day to day processing of accounting transactions to ensure that customer accounts are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, verify, and process coding payment documents accurately.
  • Reconcile and monitor customer accounts.
  • Update accounts receivable customer files.
  • Investigate and resolve customer queries, processing adjustments as needed.
  • Process backup reports after data entry.
  • Create, print, and distribute financial reports.
  • Proactively search for efficiency in current processes.
  • Assist in the development and testing of new processes.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates’ Degree in Accounting or Business Admin or 1 year of work experience as a Cash Application Specialist.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional self-control including maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
  • Proved track record of increasing responsibility with documented business results.
  • Reliable, responsible, dependable, and strong focus on fulfilling obligations.
  • Proficient ability to 10 key.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Capability to work in a fast paced work environment.
