About the role

Get to know Okta Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

The Opportunity: Are you a strategic and technically adept marketing automation leader with a passion for leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive impactful customer experiences? We're seeking a Senior Manager, Marketing Automation to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in developing and executing our marketing automation strategy, with a sharp focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence to enhance journey orchestration and optimize funnel management .

You'll lead the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated, personalized customer journeys across various digital channels, ensuring seamless and highly effective engagement from initial awareness through to advocacy. This role is critical in maximizing our marketing impact, improving conversion rates, and contributing directly to Okta's global growth by putting Identity at the heart of digital interactions.

What You'll Do: The core of this role is mastering the customer experience within our MarTech tools. You will:

  • Campaign Journey Architecture & Technical Implementation:
  • Own the translation of marketing requirements (e.g., from Campaign, Demand Gen, or Product Marketing teams) into functional, segment-specific automation programs within our MarTech platforms (e.g., Marketo, 6sense).
  • Design, build, and optimize complex, multi-channel customer journeys that deliver personalized experiences at scale, ensuring seamless and highly effective engagement from initial awareness through to advocacy.
  • Manage the hands-on technical configuration of campaigns, including building sophisticated logic, segmenting audiences, setting up testing frameworks, ensuring correct tracking, and integrating data flows between systems like Marketo, Salesforce, 6sense, and Outreach.
  • Ensure data integrity and hygiene across all automation programs, managing list imports, opt-outs, and data synchronization rules to maintain a healthy and compliant database.
  • Funnel Optimization and Performance:
  • Optimize the end-to-end marketing automation funnel, from lead generation and nurture to conversion and retention. You'll continuously analyze funnel performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement data-driven strategies to improve conversion rates and shorten sales cycles.
  • Lead a rigorous A/B and multivariate testing strategy across all automated campaigns and journeys to identify top-performing elements, optimize conversion paths, and improve overall program efficacy.
  • Establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop robust reporting to measure campaign effectiveness, presenting insights and data-backed recommendations for continuous optimization.
  • AI Integration and Platform Expertise:
  • Own, develop, and evangelize the strategy for integrating AI and machine learning capabilities into journey orchestration, leveraging it for predictive analytics in segmentation, dynamic content personalization, and identifying optimal engagement times.
  • Oversee the utilization and health of our marketing automation platform(s) and related integrations. You'll manage platform configuration and contribute to developing user-friendly self-service capabilities for internal users.
  • Partner closely with xDR, Marketing Operations, and other Marketing teams to ensure seamless lead flow, consistent messaging, and integrated campaign execution across the customer journey, specifically aligning automation efforts with sales outreach strategies.
  • Strategic Leadership & Team Growth
  • Be the strategic innovator for buyer engagement by proactively analyzing performance data, intent signals (6sense, Clay, etc.), and industry trends to identify and champion new journey opportunities.
  • Be the expert who asks, “Have we considered using these signals for a new journey, or trying this CTA/offer?” and can model out the potential impact.

Lead, guide, and develop our marketing automation specialists, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making, operational excellence, and continuous improvement through curiosity. You will set the vision for the team and empower them to execute, grow their skills, and drive significant business results. What You'll Bring: Core Expertise:

  • Campaign Implementation Mastery: 5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in a dedicated marketing role, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. Demonstrated ability to take a non-technical strategy or campaign brief and independently build and launch it within a major MA platform.
  • Journey Orchestration & Delivery: Proven ability to design, build, and optimize complex, multi-channel customer journeys that drive specific business outcomes and enhance the customer experience.
  • Platform Proficiency & Technical Acumen: Deep, hands-on expertise with a leading marketing automation platform (e.g., Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot). Understanding of database management principles and system integration concepts. 6sense certification required.

Analytical & Strategic Skills:

  • Funnel Optimization: Strong analytical skills with a track record of analyzing marketing funnel performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing data-driven strategies to significantly drive conversion and efficiency.
  • Translational Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical requirements and platform capabilities clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and conversely, to translate strategic marketing goals into technical specifications.
  • Tool Ecosystem Experience: Practical experience integrating and optimizing workflows between marketing automation platforms and complementary tools such as 6sense (ABM/intent data) and Outreach (sales engagement).

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Certifications in Marketo
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS environment focusing on identity or security solutions.

Are you ready to redefine how we engage our customers and partners through cutting-edge, AI-driven marketing automation? We'd love to hear from you!
