Job Summary
The Ammonia Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial refrigeration, with a primary focus on ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems. This role requires a certified professional with strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver high‑quality service while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration and ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in refrigeration and Ammonia equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and system performance checks to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and safety regulations (including ammonia safety practices).
- Identify potential system improvements or required repairs and communicate recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Provide professional, timely, and courteous service while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Accurately complete service reports, maintenance logs, inspection records, and documentation of materials and parts used.
- Work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, and support staff.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe and working condition.
Qualifications & Requirements
-Certificationin Ammonia systems/Industrial Refrigeration. -Minimum 5 years of experiencein Industrial refrigeration or Ammonia systems, preferably in industrial or commercial environments.
- Demonstrated experience working onammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems. Industries of cold storage, processing cooling, ice rinks, production cooling, etc.
- Qualification and experience withgas, oil, and burner systemsisan asset but not mandatory.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
