We are seeking an experienced Trainer to join our growing Training Department. The Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training that equips both employees and external clients with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform their tasks safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry and Ketek standards.

This role combines classroom instruction, hands-on practical demonstrations, and competency evaluation. The ideal candidate will uphold Ketek’s values of Safety, Professionalism, and Excellence, while contributing to training growth, program development, and business visibility.

Core Responsibilities
Training Delivery
  • Coordinate course logistics with Training Coordinators for internal and external classes
  • Deliver engaging training sessions on safe and efficient operation of various mobile equipment
  • Teach and reinforce Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Ketek policies, standards, and procedures
  • Conduct corrective action training sessions as required, within deadlines
  • Provide practical, hands-on training and evaluate trainee competency
  • Recommend safer methods, procedures, and preventative measures
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper PPE usage in classroom, yard, and client locations
Course Revision & Development
  • Assist in developing and improving training materials, presentations, and course content
  • Ensure course content and materials remain current, relevant, and industry compliant
  • Support digital-based training development, training automation, and LMS initiatives
Training Administration
  • Upload completed training records, certificates, evaluations, and competencies into internal trainee files
  • Ensure all employee and trainee training records are accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Verify required documentation is properly submitted, filed, and archived according to standards
  • Support administrative team with scheduling, reporting, compliance tracking, and monitoring recertification needs
  • Help monitor training expiry timelines and assist with recertification planning
Other Duties
  • Build and maintain strong client and employee relationships
  • Promote Ketek Training services by engaging with clients and attending sites to help gain new business
  • Provide support, mentorship, and coordination with fellow trainers
  • Represent Ketek positively and professionally across all branches, client sites, and industry events
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience training or instructing adult learners
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience towing various trailers (including fifth-wheel)
  • Fluent in English (verbal, written, and reading)
  • Strong public speaking and classroom communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing schedules
  • Excellent customer service, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Available to travel to external client locations and other Ketek branches
Preferred (Assets)
  • Canadian Red Cross Instructor Certification
  • Energy Safety Canada H2S Instructor Certification
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Experience operating or instructing on equipment such as Loader, Skid Steer, Forklift, AWP, or Overhead Crane
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, competency assessment, or LMS systems
Working Conditions
Physical Demands
  • Regular standing, walking, presenting, using computers and phones, kneeling, or lifting training materials
  • Hands-on use of mobile equipment (Forklift, Loader, Skid Steer, AWP, Crane) may be required
  • Prolonged screen time during course development and administration
Work Environment
  • Classroom/Office: 70%
  • Yard/Shop/Equipment Training Area: 30%
  • Occasional weekend or evening work may be required
  • Travel to remote customer sites and other Ketek branches
