Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist / Sr. Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in Greater Toronto Area. Reporting to the Team Leader, this replacement role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise and uphold our commitment to excellence.
Role Overview
This role is about more than inspections, it’s about shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for people and communities. As a Senior Project Technologist, you’ll contribute to critical health and safety initiatives by developing hygiene documentation, preparing technical reports, and working closely with clients to meet their goals.

Your Role and Action

Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances and workplace exposures

Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns

Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials

Use various types of equipment to record measurements and collect various samples
-
Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials
-
Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous materials concerns

Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos and other hazardous materials abatement work to document that the work has been properly completed

Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples

Business development to existing clients

Maintain and enhance quality control within the group

Liaise between clients and contractors; maintaining existing client relationships and building new ones

Schedule field reviews with clients and contractors

Ensure the well-being and safety of workers and building occupants where Pinchin projects are present
What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

- A diploma or degree in Construction Technology or Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science or Applied Science
- Entry level or three to five years of practical experience in the field of Hazardous Materials (Asbestos, Mould, Lead, PCBs, etc.)
- E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
- Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings
- Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
- Availability to work outside our core business hours and rotational weekends
- Employees may be required by our clients to undergo security clearances and/or drug and alcohol testing to gain access to certain job sites
- Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. Work-related travel is compensated.
