Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career. The Role We are seeking a motivated HBM Phy (High Bandwidth Memory) validation engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in post-silicon validation of cutting-edge high-speed memory interfaces. You'll work in a dynamic lab environment, collaborating with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and performance of AMD's industry-leading products.

The Person You are a detail-oriented and collaborative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You bring curiosity and adaptability to every challenge, quickly learning new tools and techniques while maintaining a strong commitment to quality. Clear communication and teamwork are at the core of your approach, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams and share insights that drive solutions. Your ability to stay organized, think critically under pressure, and approach complex issues with persistence makes you an invaluable contributor to innovative product development.

You are comfortable with significant lab-based work involving hands-on testing and measurement, and you enjoy working in a collaborative team environment with regular interaction across design, validation, and software teams. You embrace opportunities to contribute to multiple projects and product generations, and you value flexible work arrangements with core lab hours as needed for testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on post-silicon validation and characterization of HBM PHY circuits in the lab
  • Set up and operate sophisticated test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERT (Bit Error Rate Testers), signal generators, and power supplies
  • Develop and execute test plans for HBM PHY validation including signal integrity, timing, power, and functional testing
  • Generate test stimulus and patterns for PHY validation scenarios
  • Debug test failures and silicon issues, documenting findings and working with design teams to identify root causes
  • Collect, analyze, and report characterization data using scripting tools and statistical methods
  • Coordinate with PHY designers to understand circuit functionality and expected behavior
  • Collaborate with system designers to validate PHY performance in realistic system configurations
  • Work with software/firmware teams to develop and debug test code and drivers
  • Maintain lab equipment, test setups, and documentation
  • Participate in silicon bring-up activities and support new product introductions
  • Contribute to the development of automated test scripts and validation infrastructure
  • Advanced validation techniques for cutting-edge memory interfaces
