Purpose of Job:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, calibrations, inspecting products, recording measurements and communicating findings.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Measure machined parts on the CMM.
  • Complete Incoming Inspections for supplied parts and document appropriately
  • Measure machined parts and Assemblies for FAI inspections and as otherwise required.
  • Calibrate, fix and maintain gauges and measuring equipment per the schedule.
  • Verify product conforms to customer requirements and assist in problem solving issues.
  • Create Narratives for Supplier Non-conformances
  • Create / Update CMM Programs ensuring parts are accurately measured.
  • Problem solve CMM operational issues as needed.
  • Review design models and prints to create inspection plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • All required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
  • Report accidents, near misses, injuries, or illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
  • Be alert for hazards.
  • Cooperate with others on matters relating to occupational safety and health

Knowledge, Skills and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent / relevant experience.
  • Manufacturing environment experience an asset, preferably in CNC Machining Setting
  • CMM and gauges operation, CMM Programming knowledge an asset
  • Ability to manually measure product by setting up and using a variety of measuring equipment including but not limited to bore gauges, calipers, dial indicators, height gauge, etc.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software.
  • Knowledge of general machining practices.
  • Ability to multitask, self-starter, independent worker.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong learning desire & aptitude.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
