Job Description Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Analyst, Insurance and Risk Management will partner/support across the organization’s insurance and risk management programs. This role is responsible for delivering insights and recommendations related to claims management, insurance program performance, and operational risk. This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment. Key responsibilities include: Support end-to-end claims management activities including investigation, analysis, tracking, reserve review, escalation, and resolution coordination with insurers, brokers, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders. Analyze complex insurance, claims, contractual, and operational information to identify risks, coverage implications, trends, and recommended courses of action. Prepare clear and concise claim summaries, recommendations, and management reporting for senior leadership. Analyze claim trends, root causes, and loss activity to identify operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Maintain corporate risk and insurance reporting systems to ensure effective tracking of claims, exposures, and insurance program performance. Apply analytical data driven reasoning and business judgment to evaluate competing priorities, determine materiality, and escalate issues appropriately. Support leadership presentations and ad hoc reporting providing insights to senior management using Excel, Power BI, or other analytics platforms Collaborate with legal and operational teams to ensure compliance with corporate insurance standards. Support training and awareness initiatives related to risk management and insurance programs. Assist with special projects and strategic risk initiatives as required. What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Must have a minimum of two (2) years' related experience (risk management, legal, insurance carrier claims), with preference for legal & claims experience. Industry relevant certifications (CIP, CRM) preferred. Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned workstreams, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, proactively communicated, and followed through to resolution. Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, communication, project management, and organizational skills Self-starter with the ability to identify priorities, exercise judgment, and make decisions in a deadline-driven environment Proven ability to independently synthesize information and develop logical, well-supported recommendations. Capable of working as a member of a team or independently when necessary; knows when to seek guidance or clarity.
