About the role
The role of the Pre and Post Care Supervisor is to provide quality care in a safe environment for children 4 – 12 years of age, and to ensure excellent customer service is provided to all our patrons at Westside. Job responsibilities include supervision of the before and after care for Westside’s day camps, mentor and guide caregivers and administrative duties.
Pre & Post Care Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervision and implementation of Pre and Post Care programming for children 4 to12 years of age.
- Develop and plan age-appropriate experiences
- Actively engage and co-participate in children’s play and exploration.
- Support Child Minding with ratio’s as needed, caring for children 0-12 years of age.
- Lead opening and closing procedures, cleaning and general maintenance of equipment and facility area
- Ensure health, safety and well-being of children and staff is met
Administrative:
- Attend any staff meetings and additional training
- Parent communication, including relaying camp experiences and guidance management.
- Responsible for attendance records of children during Pre and Post Care
- Welcome families and complete sign-in and sign-out procedures
- Ensure registration packages, including medication, waiver, and authorization forms are completed.
- Account and submit receipts
- Support registration of children in Pre and Post Care
- Inform and enforce policies regarding Pre and Post Care, including late fees
Risk Management:
- First Aid and CPR
- Complete Incident Report Forms as required
- Maintain activity areas to Westside and AHS Health and Safety standards
Skills Required:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to work within a multi-age group setting
- Good customer service skills
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills
- Experience with infants, toddlers and/or children
Physical/Psychological Demands:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to lift 20-25 lbs and work in a daily routine of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling
- The successful candidate must hold high ethical standards as they are working with a vulnerable population, and has access to confidential information
Qualifications:
- A minimum of Level 1-Early Childhood Educator Certificate or Equivalent required
- Must have current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency - CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid
- Successful applicant must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Search prior to employment
- Must be 18 years or older
Work Term:
Summer 2026: June-August
This position is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, totalling 37.5 hours a week. Schedule is based on a split shift, 7-11:45am and 3:00-5:45pm.
This position may be funded by the Government of Canada-Summer Job Grant program. Grant Eligibility requires the successful candidate to be between 15Y and 30Y and legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.
