Program Eligibility:

  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen, PR, or valid work permit).
  • Complete a Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug test if the role is considered safety sensitive.

Your Opportunity at SECURE:

The Quality Control Chemist Summer Student will support laboratory testing, sample management, and equipment maintenance to ensure accurate quality control of products.

This role provides hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting, where you will work closely with the Quality Manager and the Operations team.

This role is based out of Red Deer, Alberta

The Team:

The Specialty Chemicals Lab Team at SECURE is made up of chemists and technical specialists who lead R&D, QC, and custom product development—delivering innovative chemical solutions for drilling, waste treatment, and operational optimization.

A Day in The Life:

  • Testing Blend & Bulk samples
  • Labelling, obtaining, filling, labelling Sample requests
  • QC Lab testing results entering
  • Filing – Routine/Non-Routine
  • Liaising with Quality Manager & Operations
  • Maintaining Lab chemicals/inventory supplies
  • Maintenance & calibration of Lab Equipment

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Superior adherence to safety
  • Analytical equipment knowledge
  • Excellent at verbal and written technical communication
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrate interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must have own transportation to the Blending Plant
