Position Summary... Working as a Self‑Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers a great opportunity to build valuable skills in customer service and retail operations. The Self‑Checkout Attendant supports a positive shopping experience by providing friendly, helpful service and assisting customers as they complete transactions in the self‑service checkout area. This role is a strong fit for individuals seeking an engaging position in a fast‑paced customer service or retail environment. What you'll do... WHAT YOU'LL DO Maintain Self Checkout Area Standards Maintains a clean, safe, and organized self checkout area, ensuring it remains free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and spills. Promote Walmart Programs and Initiatives Supports the promotion of company sponsored programs, including credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, when applicable. Support Customers at Self Checkout Helps customers use self checkout quickly and confidently by offering assistance when needed, monitoring activity, and completing required checks. Clearly explain any interventions in a friendly, reassuring way and escalate cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager. Respond to EAS Alerts and Complete Documentation Responds to EAS alarms in accordance with procedures and accurately completes the “Failure to Deactivate” log. Manage Scan & Go Equipment Ensures Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage locations after use. Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule) - Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Your adaptability helps ensure the store runs smoothly and customers receive consistent, high-quality service. POTENTIAL CHALLENGES IN THIS ROLE High Task Volume in a Fast-Paced Environment - Manages overnight hours effectively and planning accordingly to stay energized and focused. - Effectively manages work hours and plans ahead to maintain energy and focus throughout the shift. - Handles a fast-paced workload with efficiency, ensuring large volumes of restocking and recovery are completed accurately and on time. Physical Demands - Performs physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs. - Performs repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with attention to detail and consistency to uphold store standards.
