About the role
The Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) is hiring a Control System Specialist on a permanent basis to work on-site in Regina, SK.
Are you an Engineer or Technologist looking to apply your expertise in control systems within an environment focused on collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement? In this role, you will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of control platforms to support safe and reliable operations and contribute to meaningful improvements in automation and system performance.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure safe and reliable operations by maintaining and integrating multiple vendor control system platforms (DCS, PLC, SIS, HMI), applying Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and Operational Excellence behaviors.
- Design, test, commission control systems, and control logic across various platforms, contributing to improvements in architecture, operation, and maintenance while supporting automation standards and best practices.
- Review and update technical documentation, including maintenance records, backups, network configurations, P&IDs, loop drawings, and alarm databases, while assisting in the development of complex technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain control system hardware/software, analyze diagnostics, manage obsolescence, and provide guidance to maintenance teams using supplier tools and support.
- Support connectivity and security of foreign systems, provide technical assistance with logic, HMIs, and alarm management, and optimize control schemes to enhance operator interfaces.
- Deliver technical expertise for control system projects to support the execution of upgrades and automation initiatives.

The Team: You will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders on projects and field issues with the support of both Senior and Lead Control System Specialists on our Process Control team.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in technical operations and:
- Have 3+ years of relevant experience working with control systems and/or performing field troubleshooting and maintenance in a heavy industrial setting.
- Have a degree, diploma, or journeyperson certification in a relevant engineering or instrumentation technology discipline (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Have a P.Eng, C.Tech, and/or A.Sc.T designation.
