Specialty Leak Detection is growth area for Chemelex. This position leads specialty hardware development incubator for our leak detection business. Together with a Leak Detection Firmware leader, you will develop, prototype, test, and commercialize new products in the leak detection domain. This incubator is expected to drive commercial revenue quickly and create professional growth in multiple ways: drive Chemelex’s innovation in the leak detection domain, leverage Chemelex’s electrical heat trace domain expertise toward integrated solutions, and collaborate toward an integrated leadership role in the future.
IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:
- Rapidly learn and continuously expand expertise in the leak detection domain and associated vertical markets, challenging established technologies and practices while championing innovation.
- Execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Leak Detection Incubator aligned to Chemelex growth priorities.
- Lead and develop the leak detection team (hardware, firmware, photonics, and consultants), fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to shape product concepts, gain customer feedback, and accelerate commercialization.
- Drive system-level decisions ensuring seamless integration across hardware, firmware, photonic sensing, and ecosystem connectivity.
- Oversee rapid prototyping, validation testing, and qualification plans in accordance with Chemelex and industry standards.
- In collaboration with Program Management, oversee project execution, prioritization, resource allocation, and milestone tracking to ensure speed-to-market and revenue impact.
- Leverage expert feedback from electrical heat trace design and broader Chemelex engineering teams toward integrated solutions.
- Drive hardware and firmware scale-up, manufacturing readiness, and launch execution.
- Champion intellectual property development, ensuring documentation of insights, designs, technical observations, and IP disclosures (Chemelex retains ownership of any co-developed IP).
- Build external partnerships (universities, labs, suppliers, technology firms) to accelerate innovation where appropriate.
- Establish a culture of disciplined experimentation, data-driven decisions, and continuous learning within the leak detection domain.
- Collaborate with other R&D domain leaders to increase team effectiveness.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or better in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar (MS or PhD preferred).
- Proven (5 years or more) management or leadership experience.
- Extensive (10 years or more) hands-on engineering design experience.
- Strong desire to coach and mentor a team toward product development and innovation.
- Proven experience transitioning products from development to deployment in production and ongoing support.
- Knowledge of PLM and eCAD tools (ENOVIA, Altium)
- Knowledge non-hazardous area approvals for electrical equipment, manufacturing processes and development, quality assurance methodologies.
- A passion for continuous learning to improve your technical and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate at the individual, team, leadership and executive leadership level.
- Ability to adapt to challenges and find technical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on collaboration, teaching others, and creating knowledge.
