We are currently looking for a Real Estate Specialist to join our corporate facilities team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Real Estate Manager, you will be responsible for negotiating, preparing, reviewing, and recommending property transactions as they relate to rental revenue, property values, property rights and assessments for NSPI.
Key elements of this role include::
As Real Estate Specialist you will:
- Analyze leasing requirements and opportunities by investigating and appraising rental markets.
- Manage rental revenue and tax budgets for the department.
- Perform site selections analysis and developing studies for real property acquisitions, disposals and lease arrangements, and preparing recommendations by analyzing requirements and comparing alternatives.
- Communicate with operating managers, landlords, tenants, external stakeholders, and landowners to discuss issues, resolve problems, and prepare recommendations.
- Manage corporate governance and maintain a real estate database for agreements and inventory and prepare project schedules as required.
- Manage the development and implementation of the capital program that supports the long-term integrity and operational efficiently of NSPI’s real estate assets.

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
- The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in Commercial real estate, a Real Estate designation would be considered an asset.
- You will have experience with leasing and managing acquisitions.
- Thorough knowledge of leasing terms, conditions, real estate law and legal implications of leasing
- Thorough understanding of real estate terms and practices, market conditions and industry trends.
- You must possess excellent interpersonal skills, have strong customer focus and have demonstrated skill in evaluating real estate opportunities and influencing real estate decisions.
- Have strong negotiating and financial analysis skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- You must have advanced MS Office skills and experience with developing/conducting power point presentations.

About Nova Scotia Power
We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.
Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.
We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
