At Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), the Data Solutions and Visualization Officer plays a key role in advancing CICan’s digital transformation and data strategy. This position is responsible for preparing, modeling, and visualizing data to support informed decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. Working closely with the Senior CRM & AI Business Specialist, the incumbent ensures data integrity, contributes to dashboard development, and addresses data gathering and analysis needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

Graduation from a post-secondary institution in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Science, Statistics or Mathematics or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience:

  • Of working with qualitative and quantitative information;
  • In analyzing and compiling small to medium complexity datasets;
  • In translating complex data into clear, actionable and visual insights;
  • In interpreting and synthesizing insights from both structured and unstructured data;
  • In data collection, including web scraping, and the strategic selection of appropriate tools for diverse data sources;
  • In data management and modelling;
  • Using Excel at an advanced proficiency;
  • Working with business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, and other leading tools for data visualization and analytics;
  • Using intelligent process automation (IPA) tools that integrate AI with data workflows.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of digital trends and emerging technologies;
  • In cleaning, transforming and validating dataset;
  • Data preparation with AI;
  • AI Powered visualization tools;
  • Best practices for structuring, storing, and optimizing data workflows;
  • Research methodologies, data management principles, including data quality and integration;
  • Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, data validation, charts, macros), SQL or Python;
  • Ethical and legal considerations in data collection;
  • Data integrity and normalization; and
  • Of the Canadian educational milieu, member institutions’ operations and capabilities, the diversity of their mandate and structures, and the environmental contexts within which they operate (an asset).

Compensation: $69,965 - $85,643 (PS II) - unionized position

Status: Temporary for 6 months

Location: 1 Rideau Street, suite 701, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 8S7

Working conditions:
