Insurance Advisor – Job Description

At RFL Wealth Management, we help professionals build a Rich, Fulfilling Life™ through high touch financial planning, relationship-driven guidance, and long-term strategic thinking. We are not a traditional wealth firm. We are building a modern, fast-growing advisory company focused on exceptional client experience, meaningful relationships, and long-term impact. Our environment is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, collaborative, and growth-oriented.

We are growing rapidly and are looking for an experienced, client-focused Insurance Advisor who is passionate about helping clients protect what matters most. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed insurance professional who enjoys building relationships, simplifying complex insurance concepts, and working collaboratively with financial planners to deliver outstanding results.

Position Overview

As an Insurance Advisor, you will play a key role in guiding clients through every stage of the insurance process - from the initial needs assessment and running the complete insurance questionnaire, application completion and submission, policy approval, and final policy delivery. You will work closely with Certified Financial Planners (CFPs), case coordinators, underwriters, and internal planning teams to ensure every client receives an exceptional, seamless experience while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Client Consultation & Needs Assessment

  • Conduct comprehensive insurance discovery meetings and insurance questionnaires with clients to assess their financial goals, protection needs, and gather all relevant information required for insurance recommendations and applications.
  • Explain insurance strategies, product recommendations, illustrations, policy features, and available options in a clear and easy-to-understand manner, ensuring clients fully understand their coverage before proceeding.
  • Review and explain all policy riders attached to insurance illustrations, helping clients understand the purpose, benefits, and implications of each option.
  • Build trusted client relationships by providing exceptional service and professional guidance throughout the insurance process.

Application Management & Underwriting

  • Prepare, complete, and submit insurance applications accurately and promptly following completion of the insurance questionnaire.
  • Understand and interpret insurance illustrations, underwriting guidelines, and carrier requirements to provide accurate information and recommendations to clients.
  • Proactively manage underwriting requirements throughout the application process, ensuring all outstanding requirements, documentation, medical information, and follow-ups are completed on time.
  • Monitor the progress of each application and maintain regular communication with clients regarding the status of their insurance applications.

Client Meetings & Policy Delivery

  • Contact clients to schedule insurance consultation meetings, application signing appointments, and policy delivery meetings.
  • Set up and conduct application signing meetings while ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and compliantly.
  • Coordinate and facilitate policy signing meetings to finalize policy delivery, review policy details with clients, and ensure all required documentation is completed.
  • Ensure every client experiences a smooth, informed, and professional journey from initial consultation through policy issuance and delivery.

Collaboration & Case Management

  • Maintain regular communication with Case Coordinators to ensure files progress efficiently through underwriting and policy issuance.
  • Collaborate closely with Certified Financial Planners (CFPs), back-end planners, and internal teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end insurance planning experience.
  • Work closely with the Insurance Department to ensure applications, submissions, underwriting, policy approvals, and policy delivery are completed accurately, efficiently, and within expected timelines.
  • Maintain accurate client records, meeting notes, and documentation within the CRM system while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver an exceptional client experience.

Qualifications

Education & Licensing

  • Valid LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) licence required.
  • Provincial life insurance licence in good standing.
  • Additional financial planning or insurance designations are considered an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience advising clients on life insurance solutions.
  • Experience with Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Disability Insurance, and Living Benefits.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes and insurance carrier requirements.
  • Experience conducting insurance needs analyses and explaining insurance illustrations.
