Essentials Functions, Duties and Tasks

Follow Company drafting standard practices to prepare fabrication and erection drawings for all types of contracts including more complex projects with minimal supervision. Independently create drawings that are accurate, follow the design, customer specifications, project plans and code/standard requirements. Learn to create custom drawings without the use of guidelines, templates, or direction from others. Complete all administrative work necessary for contract work, including but not limited to distribution, folder management, documentation, and communication. Communicate with outside customers and other ATC departments as needed to support project completion. Work with other detailers on contracts to assist in the creation of the drawings, reviewing the drawings for accuracy and verifying the correctness of the drawings at the discretion of the Drafting Manager. Provide assistance and training to other detailers at the discretion of the Drafting Manager. Resolve drawing and detailing questions relating to fabrication and erection with representatives of the effected department. Maintain a working knowledge of shop and field practices to create drawings that meet shop and field capabilities. Possess a working knowledge of OSHA regulations and building codes and standards that relate to steel tank and vessel construction. Remain current on the latest detailing software. Establish a good working relationship, with consistent communication, with the Drafting Manager, other detailers, and other groups within the company.

Non-Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks

Assist the Drafting Manager in the creation and maintenance of the drafting templates and procedures. Participate in the continued improvement efforts of the drafting department. Perform tasks as assigned by the Drafting Manager.

Qualifications

3+ years working in Drafting/Detailing. Associate degree in computer aided design or equivalent; work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree. Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office software. Strong written and verbal communication skills for multi-disciplinary teamwork. Must have ability to visualize and understand construction processes. Must have good understanding and ability to apply algebra, geometry, and trigonometry principles. Must have ability to work on multiple tasks under a time deadline without getting flustered and with minimal direction from others. Experience in Inventor or other 3D modeling program preferred. Must Pass a post offer, pre-hire drug test.

Schedule

Office Hours are 8:00 – 4:30 Monday through Friday, with a half hour for lunch. Must have the ability to work overtime when asked by supervisor.

Work conditions

This job requires the worker to be at a desk for most of the day working on a computer with trips to the shop or field as needed.
