About the role
The Superintendent Mine Planning, reporting to the Manager of Integrated Planning, this role offers the opportunity to lead and develop a team of Short-Term Planning Engineers and Surveyors to deliver high quality mining plans for operational execution to enable the delivery of the business plan at Evolution Mining Red Lake Gold Operations.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Provide technical support to operational teams in compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation, Canadian Standards, environmental procedures, and site regulations
- Promote a Zero Incident culture through Visible Felt Leadership, encouraging safe work conditions and practices
- Ensure effective processes for hazard and incident identification, reporting, and management; proactively address risk-taking behaviours
- Uphold health, safety, and security standards within your workplace and across the Evolution Group by identifying and mitigating potential risks
- Mentor and lead engineers and technical staff by setting clear accountabilities, conducting regular check-ins, and supporting their development through performance reviews
- Oversee the preparation of short-term mine plans—including forecasts, stope designs, development, and drill/blast prints—while considering safety, profitability, and product quality
- Guide drilling and blasting parameters and compile data to support accurate planning, scheduling, and design
- Develop and maintain strong standards for development and stope planning
- Strengthen collaboration between technical and operational teams
- Engage with contractors to implement leading drill and blast practices at Red Lake Mining Operations
- Provide technical support for operational procedures and risk management initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement through best practices, the plan-do-act-check cycle, and ownership of business improvement projects to achieve high-quality mining outcomes
- Complete end-of-month reporting and reconcile planned designs with actual outcomes
About you
As the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will have a Bachelor of Mine Engineering with active P’Eng designation (or ability to obtain).
It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in underground hard rock mining in a similar role
- Strong technical knowledge in narrow vein gold mining, including planning, scheduling, ventilation, and drill & blast
- Advanced user of Deswik Suite; proficient in Microsoft Office and Pronto
- Skilled in mine design, project planning, scheduling, financial evaluation, and cost analysis
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership and project management skills; able to coach, mentor, and supervise technical staff and contractors
- Effective communicator with the ability to present complex ideas to non-technical audiences
- Builds strong cross-functional relationships and fosters a culture of continuous improvement

- Results-oriented with high self-discipline and professional standards
- Analytical, detail-focused, organized, and proactive
- Culturally sensitive and committed to safety and cost efficiency
