Candidates outside of commuting distance to Vancouver, BC will not be considered at this ti=mOur client is seeking an experienced Network Security Analyst for a short term 3-month contract to provide critical operational support for its enterprise firewall infrastructure. This contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on network security professional with strong Palo Alto Networks experience who thrives in a fast-paced support environment. Working closely with Security and Network Services teams, you will play a key role in maintaining the organization's security posture by resolving firewall-related issues, supporting ongoing operations, and ensuring timely delivery of network security services. This hybrid position is based in Vancouver, BC, with a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities
Manage and resolve Level 1, 2, and 3 network security support requests, including firewall rule changes, connectivity issues, policy troubleshooting, and day-to-day administration of Palo Alto Networks firewalls. Configure, modify, and optimize firewall policies, NAT, VPNs, and security rules while ensuring compliance with change management processes and least-privilege security principles. Monitor firewall health, system performance, logs, and security events to identify, investigate, and remediate anomalies, misconfigurations, and operational issues. Troubleshoot complex network security issues involving TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and security policy conflicts, escalating advanced issues when required. Manage incidents and service requests through ServiceNow, maintaining accurate documentation, timely updates, SLA compliance, and thorough root cause analysis. Support firewall governance initiatives by participating in policy audits, rule recertification, documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of operational processes.
Qualifications
2–5 years of experience supporting enterprise network security environments with hands-on administration of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including Panorama, PAN-OS, App-ID, User-ID, NAT, and VPN technologies. Strong understanding of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise network troubleshooting. Experience working with ServiceNow or a comparable IT Service Management (ITSM) platform to manage incident queues, service requests, and SLA-driven support processes. Proven ability to quickly onboard into existing environments, work independently, prioritize competing requests, and deliver high-quality operational support with minimal supervision. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and provide clear incident updates. Experience with Cisco ISE, AlgoSec, OT/ICS environments, or relevant certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, or CCNA Security are considered strong assets.
Pay: $70-80 per/hour depending on experience
Three days on-site or as required
