Building Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Organization: Rocky View Foundation (RVF)

Location: Big Hill Lodge

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with weekend and evening work as needed

Position Summary:

The Building Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing tenant concerns, and ensuring that the property remains in good condition. The role typically involves a variety of tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Routine Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify and address maintenance issues.
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
  • Handle carpentry tasks, such as fixing doors, windows, and cabinets.
  • Maintain the exterior of the building, including landscaping and snow removal.

Repairs and Troubleshooting:

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from tenants.

  • Diagnose and repair issues with appliances, fixtures, and building systems.

  • Collaborate with contractors for more complex repairs.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and maintain fire safety equipment.

Administrative Tasks

  • Participate in budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring departmental expenses are within approved limits.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance requests and completed work.
  • Manage inventory for maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with management and tenants regarding maintenance issues and schedules.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to handle manual labour and work in various weather conditions.
