Position
The Securities Research Analyst (SRA) is responsible for research, analysis, and recommendations to the Canadian & U.S models. This team works as generalists covering multiple geographies, sectors and names. The SRA is responsible for coverage, buy & sell recommendations to the leadership team and committee, while providing rationale from research reports available. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, fair knowledge in programming, and expertise in data analysis to drive informed decision-making. The SRA is also responsible for taking inbound requests from securities licensed advisors at IG to ensure proper due diligence is conducted in their recommendations. Additionally, the SRA will be an important part of the advisor onboarding process, ensuring a thorough review of advisors’ books through a profound knowledge of our solutions (KYP). It is also expected that the SRA will be able to fairly communicate, influence and guide stakeholders on investment ideas, market trends and opportunities.
Responsibilities:

Demonstrates strong stock selection and decision-making expertise

Strong financial and modelling skills

Has a deep sector perspective and is able to develop, explain and articulate his/her perspective

Broad understanding and relationship of macro-economic, geopolitical, and world issues and how they influence the sectors under coverage and formulates view

Regularly pitches timely high conviction and actionable investment recommendations and sector ideas
-
Conducts own independent research and develops differentiated insights including unique and innovative analysis, supported by data, and presents findings with conviction

Publishes reports that include in-depth and critical research/analysis and investment rationale which stimulates discussion, actionable ideas, and a move to action
-
Seen as a credible communicator and articulate, influence, and guide others in driving changes where needed.

Exhibits confidence and conviction when presenting ideas

Uses differentiated insight into sector to collaborate with other analysts for a broader understanding of a subject

Analyze complex datasets to identify trends and insights.

Develop and maintain data models and algorithms.

Utilize programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) to automate data processing and analysis.

Create visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Requirements:
-
3-5 years in the securities industry in a role providing client portfolio analysis, recommendations, and trade advice

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or CIM or working towards CFA
-
University Degree, Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) or other securities industry credentials an asset
-
Strong Microsoft PC (Excel & Power Point) software skills, Thomson Reuters Eikon, and Morningstar Advisor Workstation knowledge and experience is an asset

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

Fair knowledge in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or Java.

Experience with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).

Knowledge of statistical methods and data modeling techniques.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Good standing in Continuing Education (CE) credits

Excellent interpersonal skills, ethic, and excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral in French and in English

Working knowledge of capital markets with a deep curiosity in subject matter
a) Knowledge of French and English is required to support clients and Team members within and/ or outside the province of Quebec.
b) As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $65 500 - $91 000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.

Position
