The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Information Technology department as a term GIS Analyst.
Reporting to the Spatial Data and Application Team Lead, this position will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Maintenance Management – Asset Management, Utility Network and ArcGIS Enterprise Implementation projects.
A major focus of this role is building and maintaining enterprise ETL processes using FME, including data automation, data quality checks, and the integration of multiple business systems.
We are looking for someone who is conscientious, client-focused, and curious, with a strong initiative and solid communication skills. You should have a knack for learning new technology and translating business needs into practical GIS solutions, especially through automated workflows and repeatable data processes.
Qualifications

Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography or a related discipline combined with at least 7 years of progressive GIS experience with ESRI products; or an undergraduate degree in GIS or a related discipline combined with at least 5 years of experience.

Strong experience developing ETL workflows using FME Form and FME Flow, including automation, data transformation, quality checks, and integrations between enterprise systems.

Experience developing and maintaining documented ETL processes, including mapping data sources, creating repeatable transformations, and ensuring data quality across multiple systems.

Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise database concepts, with experience modeling, creating, analyzing, and presenting spatial and non-spatial data, as well as scripting and automation development.

Working knowledge and experience with ESRI GIS software (includes ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online).

Familiarity with configuring, monitoring, and administering instances of SQL Server with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio

Experience with Python and Jupyter Notebooks to perform queries, manipulate data, and perform analysis.

Strong communication and presentation skills, and familiarity with project management (e.g. PMI) and business analysis techniques.

Geographic Information Systems for Professionals (GISP) designation is an asset.

Project Management or Business Analysis certification is an asset.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
- We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
- Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation
- The salary ranges from $83,549 - $ 102,830 per year per annum, including a comprehensive benefits package.
