Responsible for the supervision of warehouse personnel and operational activities, ensuring great customer service and adherence to safety requirements.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist with scheduling and overseeing daily assignments of warehouse personnel to ensure quality control and maximum productivity of team members assigned. These duties may be in conjunction with the Quality Control Supervisor depending on location.
- Supervise and assist in the storage and handling of production material that has been received or needs to be shipped, and ensure all parts are sent out as described and according to customer expectations.
- Responsible to track, adjust, and approve employee’s work hours in the payroll system.
- Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse facility to reflect cleanliness, efficiency, and organization.
- Supervise all warehouse personnel, and assign tasks, and duties daily; i.e., shipping and receiving of inventory and proper storage of parts. These duties may be in conjunction with the Quality Control Supervisor depending on location.
- Enforce and coach personnel in the safe work practices and requirements to ensure a safe and hazard-free workplace and monitor on-the-job training to ensure employees gain the skills necessary to perform their assigned jobs.
- Analyze or resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work issues or concerns.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet deadlines.
- Perform warehouse activities to include parts pulling, staging, loading/unloading, and stocking of trucks.
- Assist with the management of personnel which may include interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, terminations, disciplinary action, etc.
- Responsibilities can include those duties aligned with shipping and/or receiving.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but do not have final responsibility for making these decisions.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3+ years of warehouse experience (supplemented with on-the-job training).
Preferred Requirements
- Post Secondary Education
- Possess a forklift certification, and able to operate a forklift in negotiating the lift in close quarters.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives.
- Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.
- Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
- Decisions generally affect one’s own job or assigned functional area.
- Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.
- Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
- The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
- Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
