About the role
We are looking for a reliable, versatile, team-player to join our non-ferrous team.
The ideal candidate is someone who can stand for long periods of time, possesses a strong work ethic, demonstrates a positive attitude, shows initiative, is reliable, and can follow instructions, especially the company's Health & Safety rules.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary duties and responsibilities assigned to this position are as follows:

Receives, sorts and organizes various (scrap) pieces of non-ferrous metals
-
Ensures the quality of the scrap materials being sorted and picked
-
Sorts, bales and packages various scrap materials
-
Secures and stacks baled materials, readies bales for transportation
-
Loads and unloads trucks with materials as required
-
Cleans work area and performs routine maintenance on equipment as often as required
-
Recognizes operational deficiencies with machines, equipment and/or processes and reports them to the supervisor
-
Operates mobile powered equipment and machines (as required) while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
-
Works in accordance with all company health & safety guidelines
-
Assists in other areas of the business as the need arises
-
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
From time to time, additional duties and responsibilities may include:
-
Processing cars for decommissioning
-
Plasma cutting
-
Work associated with the baler (ie.. feeding, baling, cleaning & maintenance)
-
Greets customers and assists with the offload of scrap materials (Door 5)
-
Attends additional training, as required to perform duties of the job
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
-We are willing to train the right candidate, however, previous experience in manufacturing or construction-like settings is considered an asset
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (entering restricted spaces, working at elevated heights, working in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time, lifting of up to 50lbs)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Reliability and a strong attendance record
- Quick and attentive learner
- Detail-oriented and consistent performer
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Working knowledge of safety standards
- Strong communication skills

- Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
